Deschutes River Valley Time Trial
Three individual stages, held during the weekend of April 29-30, 2017.
These stages are wonderful and challenging cycling routes in and around beautiful Maupin, Oregon. Put on by Race Across Oregon, they live up to always providing you with challenging time trial courses that are aesthetic and test all of your riding skills. They choose Maupin as the site of their time trial festival because they absolutely love the riding here. The roads are in great shape, there is little to no traffic and the our community is excited to host you. The routes are made up of some of their favorite training rides – the kind of rides where you think to yourself ‘what a great place to have a bicycle race…'

Get your bike ready for the perfect ride! Saturday, June 10th, join us on approx 200 miles of curvy, rolling roads across North Central Oregon. The Maupin Madness Poker Run benefits our veterans. We are proud to donate to our local Outdoor Adventures for Military Heroes and Operation Homefront. Imagine collecting your poker cards along the most scenic country in Oregon!
The ride route starts at Kaiser Park in Maupin, travels to Tygh Valley, then down highway 216 to Sherar's Falls and across the Deschutes River. Wind your way up out of the Deschutes to the rolling wheat fields of Sherman County and through the towns of Moro, and Wasco. Continue east toward the John Day River and ride by the new Cottonwood State Park. Gilliam County, home of wind turbines and the county seat of Condon, beckon you to marvel in the wide open spaces. The town of Fossil is next on the route, Wheeler County Seat and home of Oregon's legendary track coach and NIKE co-founder, Bill Bowerman. The best riding is yet to come! Riding through the Painted Hills has nothing but curves from Fossil to Antelope. A quick 8 miles and you are in Shaniko, then a right on Bakeoven Road and back to Maupin.
Although the ride is over, the fun is far from finished! The finish line party is at Imperial River Co., right on the banks of the Deschutes River. Enjoy live music, great food and a bike show complete with prizes! Of course, we will be waiting for you to turn in your poker cards and to hear about your awesome ride.
You'll never feel BETTER about having so much FUN!
Splash for Pink, an annual Maupin Community breast cancer care benefit, invites you to kick summer into full gear on June 24th with a fun-filled day of guided white water rafting on the Deschutes River, local barbecue and microbrew, live music, volleyball tournament, kids’ activities, silent auction, golf tournament and more. Net proceeds from the event will be donated to two Oregon beneficiaries: the Celilo Cancer Center fund at the Mid-Columbia Health Foundation in The Dalles and Sara’s Project at St. Charles Health Foundation in Central Oregon. What a unique way to raise money for breast cancer care!
We are asking for your support at our 8th annual event as we strive to raise even more money to help find a cure for breast cancer and support those affected by the disease. In the past 7 years combined, we have been able to distribute over $100,000 to our beneficiaries. Driven to support family members – and all Oregonians – who have been affected by breast cancer, the Maupin Chamber of Commerce and Imperial River Company invite you to sign up for the festivities, starting with a 13-mile guided rafting trip, all in the name of fighting breast cancer. Guided rafting tours can be booked in advance on-line or by calling 541.395.2404.
“Many Maupin Chamber of Commerce members have family members who have suffered from the disease, giving this cause an important place in our hearts,” says Susie Miles, owner of Imperial River Company. Members and supporters of Splash for Pink insist that donating the raised money to local beneficiaries is what makes this event so special. “Celilo Cancer Institute, for example, has been such a wonderful support for our cancer-stricken community members and families. Knowing this money goes there, rather than out of state, is what makes this event awesome!”
Guided rafting tours can be booked for a $69 donation per person (includes a Pink T-shirt) for a 3-hour excursion. Trips depart at 10am and 1pm on Saturday, June 24 at the Imperial River Company. You'll begin this action-packed adventure at Harpham Flats. Tackle a series of Class III and IV rapids, including the infamous Boxcar, then feel your adrenaline peak again as you raft Oak Springs. The public is also invited to enjoy a barbecue lunch (for a $10 donation), as well as family-friendly activities throughout the day. full event schedule
