Deschutes River Valley Time Trial

They choose Maupin as the site of their time trial festival because they absolutely love the riding here. The roads are in great shape, there is little to no traffic and the our community is excited to host you. The routes are made up of some of their favorite training rides – the kind of rides where you think to yourself ‘what a great place to have a bicycle race…'

Get your bike ready for the perfect ride! Saturday, June 9th, join us on approx 200 miles of curvy, rolling roads across North Central Oregon. The Maupin Madness Poker Run benefits our veterans. We are proud to donate to our local Outdoor Adventures for Military Heroes and Operation Homefront. Imagine collecting your poker cards along the most scenic country in Oregon!
The ride route starts at Kaiser Park in Maupin, travels to Tygh Valley, then down highway 216 to Sherar's Falls and across the Deschutes River. Wind your way up out of the Deschutes to the rolling wheat fields of Sherman County and through the towns of Moro, and Wasco. Continue east toward the John Day River and ride by the new Cottonwood State Park. Gilliam County, home of wind turbines and the county seat of Condon, beckon you to marvel in the wide open spaces. The town of Fossil is next on the route, Wheeler County Seat and home of Oregon's legendary track coach and NIKE co-founder, Bill Bowerman. The best riding is yet to come! Riding through the Painted Hills has nothing but curves from Fossil to Antelope. A quick 8 miles and you are in Shaniko, then a right on Bakeoven Road and back to Maupin.
Although the ride is over, the fun is far from finished! The finish line party is at Imperial River Co., right on the banks of the Deschutes River. Enjoy live music, great food and a bike show complete with prizes! Of course, we will be waiting for you to turn in your poker cards and to hear about your awesome ride.
Lange Estate Winemaker's Dinner
Lange Estate Winery returns for the second annual Hook, Line & Wine - a Father's Day Weekend Winemaker's Dinner on the stunning Deschutes! Treat the father figures in your life to a weekend of river revelries that culminate in a Saturday evening Winemaker's Dinner featuring Lange Estate's portfolio of handcrafted, terroir-focused Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, presented by Winemakers, Don & Wendy Lange.
Experience the great PNW outdoors with an open Saturday afternoon of recreational opportunities that might include hiking, biking, fishing or a guided Whitewater Rafting Adventure. Or simply relax, on the banks of the Deschutes River, before all the food and wine begins.
We are proud to have our own Faith Lindley to prepare this special meal! Faith is an incredible culinary wizard and has prepared some amazing private wine dinners at the lodge. At 5pm, attendees will get their first glass of Lange Rose and enjoy a stand-up course of hors d'oeuvres on the fabulous Imperial lawn. Following a fly casting demonstration, we will move to the riverfront patio at 6pm, to start our sit-down wine paired meal. 3 courses will be served, followed with dessert. Finally, end the evening fireside and see if you can't compel a little crooning from Don Lange while you wind down this fabulous day on the Deschutes.
