Cycling
The Maupin area has some prime ingredients for excellent cycling. There are nicely maintained roads, consistently dry weather, and very little traffic in every month but July and August. And, did we mention, the scenery is incredible. Welcome to the wide-open high desert where the deer and the antelope play (literally), and steep gorgeous canyons are all topped with a big blue sky. On a day ride out of Maupin you might see: Bald Eagles, four species of Sage Brush, a 100 year old Sears and Roebuck catalogue cabin, lots of cows and, if you’re really lucky, our resident elk herd.
Cycling opportunities range from riding a few miles down the Deschutes River on a family swimming outing to the 46 mile Bakeoven road out and back complete with a 2600 ft. elevation gain.
Imperial River Company is ready to wine, dine and lodge you while you explore the sunny side of Oregon on two wheels.
Please check out our cycling routes page for route descriptions and other resources.
